Located in the so-called “Barrière du Lot” in the Martres-de-Veyre district, the “Chaumes d’Allier” funerary area consists of a burial site which was excavated between 1851 and 1923. The exceptional state of preservation of the organic remains which were unearthed there (hair, coffins, pieces of clothing, funerary furniture) granted the site its world-wide reputation although, paradoxically, it remained somewhat overlooked as a whole. Les espaces funéraires laténien et augusto-tibérien des Reliades (Le Puy-en-Velay, Haute-Loire).

Le site des Reliades au Puy-en-Velay (Haute-Loire) a livré deux petits espaces funéraires à crémation utilisés entre La Tène finale et l’époque augusto-tibérienne. Caractérisés par une implantation sur un lieu à la topographie remarquable, ils ont fait l’objet d’aménagements paysagers qui viennent souligner leur caractère ostentatoire. Par ailleurs, la présence de bassins pose la question de l’utilisation de l’eau dans le cadre de cérémonies funéraires et/ou commémoratives. Of the three arverni oppida situated in the southern part of the Clermont-Ferrand basin, Gondole isthe least known to the general public and to the scientific communities. Unlike her sister sites, Corentand Gergovie, detailed surveys of Gondole have only recently begun, mainly because Gondole lay undiscovered until the early 1990’s. The rescue archaeology trial trenching carried out between 2002 and 2005 led to the discovery of thefamous horses and human burial, and marked the beginning of the archaeological research aroundthis site.
